Come and join us for our regular monthly Friday night gig at the EastSide Visitor Centre, featuring County Down singer/songwriter, Matt McGinn.

Matt McGinn has been a lynch-pin on the Irish music scene for a quite a while. Having travelled the world backing major artists, it was the release of his second album in 2015,  'Latter Day Sinner' that truly stamped his authority as a songwriter and performer.  Daily Telegraph music editor, Martin Chilton, listed 'Latter Day Sinner' in his top folk albums of that year. The first track, 'I'm not Looking Down Anymore', won Matt a coveted place on the Electric Picnic's Cosby Stage.  In 2017, Matt's project 'Lessons of War' will take him around the world collaborating with some incredible musicians from countries affected by conflict including those at France's infamous refugee camp at Calais.

Although at home in the studio recording and producing, it's live performance where the magic really happens. Matt's immediate bond with an audience means no two shows will ever be the same.

"Darkest Before the Day, what a truly beautiful track... I've seen Matt play live, he's fantastic... and Latter Day Sinner is a beautiful album." BOB HARRIS - Radio 2

"Such a great talent... Such a great songwriter... Matt's latest album 'Latter Day Sinner'  just keeps getting better with every play" BBC's RALPH MCLEAN

Two excellent, young EastSide Emerging performers, John Andrews and Emer Maguire will warm up for Matt.

Emer Maguire is a Northern Irish multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter who is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with. Her music is a welcome blend of soulful indie folk mixed with enough intelligent pop to propel her into the mainstream. From a performance at Manchester's Bluedot Festival, to recording with Grammy-nominated producer John Ravenhall in London, 2016 saw the official launch of Emer's music career and the release of her debut single 'Belfast'. The single has been heavily featured on national radio and media, gathering momentum at a rate unheard of for new artists. BBC Radio Ulster, Q Radio and RTE2FM have championed the track. Upon its release, ‘Belfast’ was immediately picked up by BBC’s Across The Line as ‘Track for the day’.

John Andrews is fast becoming a firm favourite at EastSide Sessions. His distinctive voice has been described like he’s been soaked in a vat of bourbon. His music incorporates blues, jazz, and experimental tendencies verging into folk and punk. His lyrics frequently present atmospheric portraits of grotesque, often seedy characters and places, although he has also shown a penchant for more conventional ballads.

With a line-up of 3 fantastic performers to entertain and delight, we invite you to BYO tipple and join us for a great night of music. What could be a better start to the weekend?
