Sophocles’ Antigone is a play about a young woman who, against a background of political crisis tearing apart communities and families, chooses to support the state, but then disobeys a royal decree that itself defies higher claims of right and justice.

This event is an opportunity, in conversation with John Larkin QC, Attorney General for Northern Ireland, to reflect on what the Antigone continues to say to us about tensions between government, law and justice.

No prior knowledge of the play is necessary.
