The King of East Belfast

7 - 16 Aug 2020
Connswater Shopping Centre, Danske Bank Unit, Bloomfield Ave, A20, Belfast BT5 5LP

8pm (with 2.30pm matinees 9 & 16 Aug)

After 30 years at sea Jim Stewart returns home with revenge in mind.

He is a man on a mission: to confront the King of East Belfast, the most famous bookie of his day.

Will echoes from the past calm Jim’s troubled soul?

Through his deadly business the King of East Belfast married and buried many on the Newtownards Road…..but there are some things money can’t buy. If you spend your life serving the working man’s vices, how can you truly be a good man?

Inspired by stories gathered from the Groves family, this one-person show breathes life into a forgotten period in the history of East Belfast.
