Micro Poetry Competition

Micro Poetry Competition Postcard CSlewis

Think you can write a poem the length of a tweet?  Why not give it a go?

This year’s C.S. Lewis Festival theme is Surprised by Joy and we’re asking you to have a go at writing a very short poem focused on what surprises you about east Belfast, C.S. Lewis’s old stomping ground.

Your poem could be about a place, person or experience which has surprised you. It could even be about C.S. Lewis himself.  We’re looking for exciting, imaginative and original poems, written in less than 140 characters, (the length of a tweet*).

*Twitter has changed its word limit to 280 as of 08/11/17 however our word limit for poems is still 140 characters.

If you are up for the challenge you can download an entry form HERE or pick one up from the Eastside Visitor Centre. Closing date for entries is Friday 24th November at 5pm. This competition is open to people of all ages so don’t forget to include your contact details and age group.  There will be fantastic prizes for winners and runners up in Primary, Secondary and adult categories. Sponsored by Hewitt & Gilpin Solicitors, supported by Arts & Business and W5.

Please contact Jacqueline@eastsidepartnership.com for more details and look out for our special, interactive mini poetry workshops in residential care facilities, libraries and community groups.
